Brian M. Taillon’s practice at McHale Slavin focuses on trademark and copyright prosecution, intellectual property related transactions, and litigation before federal agencies and courts.
Mr. Taillon has over 15 years of experience assisting clients in managing intellectual property as a valuable asset for businesses and individuals, balancing clients’ legal interests with their greater objectives. His experience includes being attorney of record for hundreds of applications to register U.S. trademarks, including conducting searches, rendering opinions, and responding to Trademark Office Actions.
Mr. Taillon’s experience also includes representing clients in the commercialization of intellectual property through the preparation of numerous domestic and international transactions relating to patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. These transactions include, but are not limited to: licensing and acquisitions and related due diligence; consent/coexistence agreements; non-disclosure and non-compete agreements; manufacturing, marketing and distribution agreements; independent contractor protective agreements; work for hire agreements; consulting and cost-sharing agreements; software development and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) agreements; and general study agreements.
Mr. Taillon’s experience further includes patent, trademark, and copyright litigation in U.S. District Courts, including, but not limited to Markman practice in patent litigation. Additionally, Mr. Taillon is experienced in conducting trademark opposition proceedings, including successful Trial Briefing and Oral Argument, before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office’s Trademark Trial & Appeal Board (TTAB), as well as internet domain dispute proceedings before the Forum (formerly known as the National Arbitration Forum).
Born and raised in southern New England, Mr. Taillon is an avid follower of Boston area sports. His hobbies include creative writing, weightlifting, running, and CrossFit.
