Kenneth W. Cohen is a registered patent attorney focusing on patent prosecution and patent litigation. Mr. Cohen specializes in mechanical and electrical-mechanical matters with a special emphasis on heavy machinery including pneumatic and hydraulics equipment.
Mr. Cohen previously held the position of Assistant State Attorney for the Office of State Attorney 17th Judicial Circuit, Ft. Lauderdale. As a prosecutor he litigated matters ranging from serious felony charges to misdemeanor criminal offenses. Motion practice depositions, evidentiary hearings, trials and dispute resolution of an assigned case load were all aspects of his responsibilities. Mr. Cohen has tried over 50 jury trials.
Prior to his legal career, Mr. Cohen held the position of Engineering Officer with the Master, Mates and Pilots Union serving aboard various transatlantic oil tankers where his responsibilities included supervision and control of the vessel’s machinery and equipment. Mr. Cohen is proficient in the design and operation of most pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical and electric systems found aboard ships. He held U.S. Merchant Marine licenses as 2nd Assistant Engineer of Steam Vessels of any horsepower and 3rd Assistant Engineer of Motor Vessels of any horsepower.
Mr. Cohen is a PADI Certified Divemaster. He is an avid snow and water skier.
